What is Patta Chitta?

Patta Chitta is a land record document issued by the Tamil Nadu Revenue Department. It shows who owns the land, where it is located, how big it is, what type of land it is, and other basic details.

Earlier, Patta and Chitta were two separate records. Now they are combined and shown together as a single digital record on the Tamil Nadu e-Services land portal.

Patta Chitta is often required when you:

  • Buy or sell a plot of land
  • Apply for a home loan or agriculture loan
  • Verify land ownership before purchase
  • Check if land is Government (Poramboke) or private
  • Sort out survey or boundary disputes
